Week 21 #Project365 – 2014

Quite a busy week for us this week.

Sunday – our friends came for supper and bought me some lovely flowers. We usually have a takeaway but I decided to make some fajitas (I use my own spice/herb mix too!). We all got quite messy eating them.

Monday – the new doors were fitted. They both look really good and I was amazed at how bright the kitchen feels now with a white door rather than the wood one that we used to have.
The cat doesn’t know what to make of the new back door though..she sneaks up to it like it’s going to bite her and needs encouragement to come in an out of it.. Stupid cat… she also did a poop  in the house even though the back door was open.. Dirty girl…

On Tuesday Hubby decided to trim the conifers. This meant me putting on sturdy shoes to stand on the bottom of the ladder to balance it. Shortly after the picture was taken he refilled the fuel tank and got the mix slightly wrong and the clipper ran on after he stopped it and he caught his leg as moved to step down off the ladder. Thankfully it was only a pinch which resulted in a bruise. He was lucky he had jeans and overalls on.

We didn’t go to the cinema this week as there was nothing we really fancied watching. We watched X-Men First Class from the Sky planner instead. Curled up on the sofa with a bottle of Hoopers and some sweeties. – the strawberry Hoopers tasted nice to start with but got quite sickly.. not as lush as the Dandelion and Burdock..

Thursday – I almost missed the postie. I popped out to the garage and when I came back the dreaded red card was on the mat!! I looked down the lane and could see the posties van so flagged her down as she passed. In the parcel was the complete series of 24 that I won from TalkTalk on twitter. I have to get hubby into this!!

Friday – Grandson for the morning and he was on the go as usual.  The pictures here are 2 of many I took when he seized my camera and started pulling faces. He then climbed all over me and I kept taking snaps of him. Exhausting but a lot of fun.

No picture today – oh dear… I took one in the car of some idiot on the motorway but I couldn’t have tapped the screen as it wasn’t on my phone when we got home. Perhaps I was concentrating more on staying alive… the idiot pulled out in between 2 other cars and almost caused a pile up. We had watched him weaving for a while – that’s why I had the phone camera ready!

garden, flowers,

Hope you’ve all had a good week.

I’ve been lazy again this week, just some shots in the garden and of Ashley’s visit on saturday.

We have a conifer in the back garden that generally produces a few berries in the autumn but this year it’s gone berserk, there are hundreds on it. The picture doesn’t do it justice as you can’t see how red they are.
A normal everyday spider – could this be the one that spun the huge web I posted last week?? A web after the rain – in the front garden this time. I wish my camera could capture the MANY webs that the spiders have spun between our neighbours garage and his laurel bushes…they look amazing after the rain. I’ll keep trying to get them by changing settings on my camera..

I looked after Ashley on my own on Saturday. His first treat was an apple and his Gulp milkshake (yes I know milkshake is sweet but it does get milk into him! He won’t drink milk..)
He loves having his picture taken and is obsessed with getting as close as he can to the lens!
He’s doing quite well with becoming ‘dry’, he lets you know straight away if he’s done a wee or poo, but refuses to use the potty or sit on the loo.
We went for a short walk but he now refuses to hold hands and I can’t run as fast as him, so it’s pretty scary walking along a busy main road.
I wish he would say more (Oh did I really say that – I don’t think he’d shut up if he could!) his speech is pretty poor for a nearly 3 year old.  Nana, Gaddy (grandad), daddy, mumm, cat and oh dear is about as much as you can get out of him. He makes lots of noises but nothing you’d understand. Mummy and Daddy doesn’t seem as concerned as the grandparents though!

#Project365 20/52

This week I decided to take some close up / Macro pictures in the garden. We’ve had a few days of sunshine – albeit still chilly – so  it was ideal light to get the close ups.

It was my birthday on Wednesday so we went to the cinema to see the new Star Trek film. A week ago I wouldn’t even have contemplated it but we watched the first of the new ‘younger version’ on tv and really enjoyed. They have spent a lot of time making sure the new cast remain true to the charcters of the original Star Trek.
After the cinema we had a take away from the local curry house. So that was two 2-4-1s’ in the same day! (Orange Wednesday and Biryani Day!) All washed down with a vodka or three!

We had the grandson on Thursday so his Mummy and Daddy could have a day to themselves. We went food shopping and played in the garden.

Saturday tore me apart – the emptying of my son’s storage locker. It really bought it home that he’s not planning on returning to the UK to live. We are storing it all at our house now and I have the onerous task of taking an inventory and photos ready to sell as much as I can.  I can see a few boot sales on the horizon! Hopefully I’ll be able to get a good sum of money to send to him in Oz!

The photo’s this week: Hover over each for captions!

My picture of the week is the top middle one. I’m very pleased with how this one came out.

289/366 to 292/366 #Project366

Monday to Thursday this week –

DARK chocolate spread – I do like a dollop on toast with a banana. First time I’ve seen dark rather than milk or nutella. Not as nice as I was expecting so will be going back to Nutella after this jar.

Conifer in the back garden with winter plumage of berries.

Wetherspoons new menu – all black and white and huge! What were they thinking?

Bought a copy of Taken – Extended harder cut apparently!!

192/366 Raindrops

When I went to our garage earlier I noticed all the raindrops on our conifer plants. I went back in and grabbed my camera, set it on macro zoom and took some snaps. I’d like to show you 3 of them.

The first one shows the hundreds of raindrops still sitting on the plant.

The second one show the central stem which I thought was brown until I uploaded the picture and realised it was a raindrop – perhaps I should have put my glasses on!!

The third one and my picture of the day you cansee reflections of one of my other conifers in the raindrops. This shot is supposed to be turned 90degrees to the right to get it to the right orientation but I think it looks better as it is.

157/366 – 161/366 It’s all grow – well nearly..

This week I decided to take some pictures of what is growing in my garden.  It’s great to see plants that have been dormant all winter suddenly leap into life. Besides the photos here, my Bay bush has almost doubled in size, my Hydrangea is full of leaves and has some massive buds on it and the conifers in pots that you can see on 158/366 have all got new shoots on them.

The only disappointment is my poorly Azalea by the front door – you’ve read before about my Azalea haven’t you?? (You haven’t – oh dear…get searching then!!) I thought it was well on the road to recovery but this week one more branch took a turn for the worse. There are some spider webs on it and I think some spider pest or other has taken a like to it. Well OH has taken the bug spray to it and has also given it some Miracle grow. I hope it’ll keep growing and thriving after I cut this dead branch off. Boo Hoo.. 😦

So here are the pictures for this week.

157/366 – I didn’t expect to see flowers on a maple

158/366 Flowers, conifers and colour

159/366 Mint and Sage doing well and the parsley is catching up

160/366 Basket by the front door. It gets more sun than the one I’m featuring every week

161/366 My poorly Azalea – attacked by something AGAIN!!

144/366 Conifers – Powercam

When my son visited on Sunday he took a photo on his iPhone with an app called PowerCam. There are different effects you can do with it and it looks like it will be lots of fun to experiment with.

I’ve installed it on my iPod and taken a few experimental shots. The one below is using the tilt shift function. I’m not exactly sure what effect it’s supposed to have…it brings up a bar that you can move up and down the screen and even change the angle. The picture it takes keeps the bar in focus and softens the rest.. well that’s what I think anyway.

So I’ll be experimenting for the next few days and will bring you the results… Stand by!!!!
