Week 20 #Project365 – 2015

Here’s how my week panned out:

Sunday – After having supper with our friends on Saturday they gave me some some flowers for my birthday. They look very bright on the kitchen window sill.

Monday – Had a win of £100 cheque. WOO!! Spend some of it on some new canisters for the kitchen. We already had the biscuit barrel in this range so bought the Tea, Coffee, sugar and the bread crock to go with it.
I’m debating using the rest to buy my own web domain and go self-hosted.  Quite like the idea of soosie.wales, what do you think??

Tuesday – Had Ashley for the morning before dropping him off at nursery. He has new glasses but he still wears them half way down his nose!!
Later in the afternoon we went to the cinema to see Big Game, a good Action/Adventure romp with Samuel L. Jackson playing a US president who gets shot down over Finland and his only hope for survival is a young Finnish boy on a ‘rights of passage’ expedition. It’s good fun and would make a good half term film for (probably) junior school kids.
Oh did I tell you it’s now Meerkat Movies?? I managed to get a full year of 2-4-1 via Compare the Market by buying a one day UK travel insurance for £2.67!! A bit of a loophole that many have taken advantage of!! Thanks to Money Saving Expert!!

Wednesday – usual work day.

Thursday – spent the day catching up on SKY+ and watching films as the weather was so bad. It rained all day!

Friday – Today was my birthday. A couple of cards and well wishes on Facebook. My friend in work bought me a summery scarf and lovely coaster that is hand decorated by one of the ladies that works in another department at the store.

Saturday – Food shopping, visit to MIL, quick catch up on email. Off out tonight for my birthday.

Week 6 #Project365 – 2015

We had a rather busy week.

Sunday – I was doing extra hours in work to cover for holidays. I managed to finish by 2pm so had most of the afternoon to laze about.

Monday – GOOD NEWS!!! The plumber turned up and fixed the water supply. The pressure valve he fitted last week just needed adjusting and the leak on the water cylinder didn’t need a part after all…just uncoupled and new plumbing tape fitted to it. So we now have lashings of hot pressurised water!!

Tuesday – Lazed around the house, tidying and cleaning.  We arranged last week for the leather repairer to do some repairs to our big sofa. One seaat pad has a hole worn in it and part of the foam had slipped making it look lop sided. It has to be taken apart in the house as it’s too big to go through the door. It was a tight fit even when it was new!
It’ll be gone for a week then the 2 seater is off for some new padding.

Wednesday – Work day – finished later than usual so we had to change plans for Orange Wednesday and go later than planned. Hubby had got a couple of casseroles out of the freezer and peeled some potatoes so all we had to do was get them cooked and reheat the casseroles when we got home.
This week we watched ‘Kingsman – The Secret Service’, imagine James Bond taken to higher level.. it’s wickedly funny, full of action and really rather mad.  It’s about a very secret service that operates beyond the usual MI6 and they are recruiting for a new member after the demise of one spy at the start of the film. All the new recruits are put through tough tests to prove their worthiness.
The film rattles along at a good pace and there are some great set pieces. One in particular with Colin Firth battling against a church full of people to the backing sound of Lynard Skynard’s Freebird.  Well any film that has that tune in it is ok in my book as it’s in my top 3 all time great tunes.

Thursday – working again to cover holidays.
Hubby bought a load of curry / chinese sauces from the local supermarket. All going for a bargain as they are not going to stock Pataks /Sharwoods any longer.  Nice to have for those times when you want to cook up something quick or for the times you can’t be arsed to cook from scratch!!
We went to see Oldest boy and the kiddies. Ashley is much more interested in his brother now that he’s taking more notice. He loves to make him laugh and Theo smiles as soon as he sees him. I hope they have’ll always have brotherly love like their daddy and his brother.

Friday – Good news from Oz, youngest son has WiFi back!! Gawd I’ve missed having him online.. they moved from their house to an apartment so he had an easier journey to work and since moving they’ve had to wait for a new connection to the phone lines and broadband.  A good Skype session planned for Sunday morning.
It’s hubby’s 60th on Sunday and we went out for a buffet curry.. how good am I to agree to that rather than watch Wales v England in the 6 Nations. (I’m the rugby nut – he’s not sport minded at all)

Saturday – Not much going on. Caught up with a few blogs and trying to clear my laptop of loads of crap to make it run a bit faster.

Here’s my selection for the week.

Week 20 #Project365 – 2014

Not much to report at the start of the week, just pottering about the house.

Orange Wednesday – This week was Sabotage the new Arnie film. Well what can I say about it? Well not much  – the story is never sure which direction it’s going in, plot holes, pretty daft really. Oh and they seem to have bought a job lot of fake blood. Wouldn’t recommend a viewing.

Thursday – Happy Birthday to me! We went out to a local pub for lunch – lovely steak. The pub is one of the Sizzling Pub outlets and they sent me an email voucher offering a free starter for my birthday. I presented it only to be told that as we ordered from the ‘Grill Club Thursday’ we couldn’t have the starter..What a gip..starters only available from the main menu. Felt like saying ok then we’ll have the steak from the main menu and 2 glasses of tap water! (the grill club is a choice of grill plus a drink for slightly more than if you bought the grill from the main menu. ) Needless to say we didn’t stay for dessert..
We spent the afternoon relaxing and supping a few Cidres – HIC….

Friday – Food shopping and tidying the garden. Enjoying a bit of sunshine.

birthday, orange wednesday, steak

Saturday – Grandson day – we packed up a picnic and went to Tredegar Park. We used to take our boys there when they were young. It has a big park and lots of room for a good kick about and a walk along the river.
Hubby spotted that they had a zip wire and was going to tandem ride with Ashley but he couldn’t get a good grip and hold him at the same time. He put Ashley on and he  pushed him just a short way to me to catch him.. I was so scared he would fall off – but he hung on tight and laughed his head off. We gave him another couple of rides and the last one was the full length. I had to snap the picture quickly before I had to catch him!
The other pictures are of him on a climbing tower,  playing on GamesKids app – He loves the piano game and laughs at the noises he can make on it!
The last picture is of him cleaning his sunglasses – do you think he’s seen me clean mine with a corner of my sweater/t-shirt??

287/366 Birthday Boy

Thursday saw my nephew Jason turn 40.  This is him at his party on Saturday. He’s gone through a lot in the past couple of years – divorce and fighting to keep his boys. But through it all he remains positive and ALWAYS has a ready smile and laugh.  Everyone loves him..
Happy Birthday Jason!!!

Week 6 #Project366

Week 6 –

37/366 First up my gorgeous grandson Ashley. Snapped by his daddy.

38/366 Creamy Leek and Bacon Pasta – for the recipe click here

39/366 Hubby’s Birthday cards

40/366 The electricmen up the pole – They turned off our power from 9am to 3pm to change 4 cables in our lane to one.

41/366 We had some carpet laid in 2 bedrooms today. When we took up the old carpet in the back bedroom we saw this that hubby must have drawn on the floor before the original carpet was laid 17 years ago. It’s a cartoon of our two sons – oh one is not called Leaf… it was just a nickname at the time!

42/366 Sign from the side of our local pub. We live in a rural area and it always amuses me that the sign is in English, German and French but not in Welsh (we are in Wales!). But then again they wouldn’t have room to put ystafelloedd!

43/366 The village has a reen that is currently running quite freely. If you’re not sure what a reen is click here.
