233/366 Buddleia growing well!

The big plant here is my Cultivated Buddleia. Don’t confuse it with the weed Buddleia that seems to grow along railways and from the gutters of neglected buildings!! That’s a totally different type of Buddleia!!

We bought this plant about 6/7 years ago and it was originally planted in front of the retaining wall you can see here. (and yes I know it needs a coat of paint!!!) the problem with planting it there was that it’s on the edge of the lawn. So guess what happened when Hubby got out the strimmer?? Yep! he used to strim part of the plant almost every time. This resulted in it not flowering very well. So about 2 years ago we agreed to move it into the retaining wall and it has now grown into quite a monster!

I’ve taken a picture of it as Hubby will be trimming the conifers that grow in the retaining wall and he’ll probably give this a trim too. It’s a shame it was dull when I took the picture as it attracts lots of butterflies.

Here are 2 Bonus piccies: First is close up of one of the blooms, second is me trying to be arty with a shot looking up through the bloom!

Check out my other Project 366 pictures so far.

There’re very reliable plants aren’t they? They look so pretty too and the bees and butterflies love them.
