143/366 Cwmcarn Forest Drive

Our plan for today was to drive to 14 Locks and walk along the canal.  On the way we had to do a detour to get some desk stain for the patio. It didn’t seem worth driving back to Newport when we could carry on up to Pontypool and get to Cwmcarn via Newbridge. Plus it’s a picturesque drive!

We used to go to the Forest Drive quite often when the boys were young. There are lots of places to stop off for a walk and for views across the valleys and Bristol Channel. We’ve not been there for about 6 or 7 years and they now have a dedicated area for children with some high-end equipment for them to play on. Throughout the forest there are areas to picnic and to have a barbecue.  If you are considering a visit you can read more about it here.

The first photo is my ‘picture of the day’. It was taken with the panorama setting on my TZ8 and stiched using PhotoFun Studio.

Wow what stunning scenery! We often drive that way en route to my in laws and it definitely looks worth a detour for!

Definitely worth a detour Nikki. The kiddies will love it. Loads of places to explore and take walks and stunning scenery. On a really good day you can see from Bristol all the way down to Weston.
The Forest of Dean is also worth a visit too.

I love the panoramic shot – amazing!

I’ve tried a few panoramic shots with my camera but this did come out particularly well. I love this project as I’m learning so much about getting shots right.
